Heimtextil trends 2020/21
by Elisa Prete

Also this year the Heimtextil fair has carried out its study on trends, this year it has been entrusted to a study in Amsterdam that has collected 5 different addresses which I summarize below.

This year two of our fabrics have been chosen by the Heimtextil fair from over 7000 fabrics as trends 2020/2021. The fabrics chosen are Nattè in the Pure Spiritual and City 2020 categories in the Multi-local category.

The selected fabrics will be on display in the Hall 3.0 Trends 2020/2021.

MAXIMUM GLAM

To rebel against conventions is not for the faint of heart. This is how the Maximum glam trend begins, eccentric, surreal, no minimalism, no standard. Continuously searching for emotions and total immersion to find something unique that attracts and disorientates. All fabrics are a continuous journey between reality and illusion, physical and digital, the fabrics are dynamic, energetic and glamorous.

More is more: the excesses do not allow limits. The fabrics are fluorescent, reflective, dynamic, give movement and presence. We do not copy reality faithfully but use it for an interpretation that has no limits, so that every imperfection becomes the distinctive signature.

PURE SPIRITUAL

Today's life is in a world of uncertainty that increases the sense of anxiety. Individual emotions are often consumed continuously to be occupied, in the changes of the world this is how we try to start from the primordial certainties with particular attention to nature. Technology is used for a good purpose. In the continuous search for calm, isolation and deep connection, pure aesthetics returns without excesses and is essential. We are dealing with the human impact on the world with its civic and ethical sense and the focus is on nature.

The new essentialism: fabrics faithfully reproduce nature without ornamental decorations or patterns. Only nature with its traces, its organic and irregular structure, the colors are natural. Production is also natural with hand-made or traditional machinery. The color is inspired by natural colors and are often made with plants and is a continuous stimulation of the senses and emotions to find calm.

ACTIVE URBAN

Urban equipment, practical and functional, informal, versatile and adoptable, simple, accessible and flexible. High performance technical fabrics. Made with a focus on circular design thinking of recycling, reuse and waste reduction.

Technology experts: technology is crucial for a perfect combination of good design and desired aesthetics. Technology allows us to obtain a good user experience. We use augmented reality and holograms. Shops can offer renderings and interactions at any time with solutions that match the flexibility required today and the precariousness of work life.

HERITAGE LUX

Society is realizing the need to embrace and celebrate the global heritage. Ancient buildings around the world will become the experiential hotels of tomorrow. The current tendency to relive the past manifests itself in the need to experience something magical. The luxury is being able to have an experience in the past to have a surreal luxury for a new request for enlightenment.

The era of drama (theater): the need to create elegance in every shot as well as in every moment of life. Observing nature creates the moment in which it is theatrical and scenic. To decorate and embellish, beauty is sought in history and in nature, ancient and new, real and surreal, cultured and organic. A continuous search for what is mysterious and unknown.

MULTI-LOCAL

Living in a transient and global world, multi-local knowledge has cultural impact on society and there are benefits to living it. This way of living gives power to inclusiveness with its ability to absorb changes, to empower oneself thanks to differences. This inclusiveness is not driven by the WEST but by Asia and the Middle East and Africa where ancient cultures have been leveled by global influences.

Designers from Africa and Asia are aware of the importance of private communities and spread them around the world. It is in this diffusion that the inclusiveness that follows the socio-demographic changes of the world is celebrated.

Indigenous focus: the indigenous focus on goodwill for greater cultural fluidity and acceptance in terms of identity. The retails have a new approach that aims to enhance craft and local productions by placing them in special marketplaces so as to establish direct contact between the public and artisans.

With the ease of travel but above all thanks to the high use of the Internet, people have the feeling that the world is at the tip of their fingers.

Local influences are a way to experience this multi-culturality, people look beyond and integrate with what they already have.

Indigenous style meets global influences. A celebration of craftsmanship and decoration, from tribal and folkloric to geometric and abstract, a combination of jacquard, fringe, embroidery and borders.
